Dunbar Cement Plant supports lifeboat day

Tarmac's Dunbar Cement Plant in East Lothian, Scotland, was proud to be one of the main sponsors of Dunbar Lifeboat Station's annual gala day. The plant donated £300 which covered the cost of various activities at this fun-filled family day out.

Visitors were entertained with a range of different stalls, childrens’ rides, build your own raft race, live music and a bar, with the gala starting with a parade from Dunbar High Street.

The cause is especially close to the hearts of three employees at the plant, who are also volunteers at the lifeboat station. They have a combined total of around 43 years’ service with the RNLI and are involved in between 20 and 30 ‘shouts’ per year.

Dunbar Lifeboat station has over 200 years of history, receiving its first lifeboat in 1808. The station, which is run purely on donations, operates two lifeboats – an inshore D class and an all weather Trent class lifeboat. The crews have been honoured with 12 awards for gallantry, saving hundreds of lives during its two centuries of history.
