World Cement,

Eurocement’s Sengileevskaya cement plant has held an opening ceremony for its new 1.3 million tpy dry process line. The ceremony was attended by several Russian dignitories as well as Eurocement Chairman Filaret Galchev and the group’s President, Mikhal Skorokhod.

The new plant, which took an investment of more than R18 billion, has four times the production capacity of the old plant and double the energy efficiency. The plant uses the best available technologies and will supply the construction sites for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. With this additional capacity, the total cement production capacity of the Ulyanovsk region rises to 4 million t, making it one of the largest building materials producing regions in Russia.

Russia is facing changes to its environmental protection laws that will force cement plants to transition to modern technology. Eurocement is well on its way to achieving this goal, having already upgraded several of its plants.
