World Cement,

Aggregate Industries has been triumphant at the annual Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) Property triathlon, winning the King Sturge Cup for the third time in four years.

Fastest team

Held at Dorney Lake in Windsor, Aggregate Industries was the fastest corporate team with a combined time of 3.28.53. The combined total is calculated through the three fastest individuals for each company, with Aggregate Industries beating Knight Frank, by 59 seconds.

The fastest of the 45 Aggregate Industries colleagues participating were Richard Wilks, Technical Advisor, Martin Pitts, Charge Hand from the North End Concrete Products factory and Jack Hindle, Weighbridge Operator at Aggregate Industries’ Asphalt plant in Stockport. Jack recorded the second fastest time by a male under 30 at just 1.05.56, the seventh best overall time at the event. The company paid for all entrance fees, donating a total of £2997 to the Samaritans charity.

Corporate cup winners

Commenting on the success, Richard Wilks said: “The JLL property triathlon is the leading mass participation event for our industry and is always a great experience for all levels. The whole AI team gave a superb overall performance with many personal best times achieved and we are extremely happy to have won the corporate cup again and are looking forward to defending it again next year".

This is the fifth time the Aggregate Industries team has taken part in the triathlon. Over 2900 competitors took part in the event, with a total of £116 000 raised for the Samaritans charity, taking the total raised over the last eight years of the triathlon to over £1.2 million.
