In further positive news, consumption on the national market reached 1.6 million t in January – February 2015. This is 6.6% higher than in the corresponding period in 2014. In the 12 months to February 2015, cement consumption increased by 3.5% y/y.
Commenting on the latest figures, Aniceto Zaragoza, Director General of Oficemen, called on the Public Administration to take urgent and specific action to stabilise the domestic market situation in the medium to long-term. He added that only by doing so would the cement sector, and industry in general, be able to follow a pathway to real growth and job creation, consolidating economic recovery.
