5.2% improvement in Spanish cement consumption in January 2015

According to Oficemen, domestic cement consumption increased in the first month of 2015, rising to 769 838 t. This is 37 834 t (5.2%) higher than in January 2014. Over the last 12 months, Spanish consumption levels have improved by 2%.

Canary Islands

In January 2015, cement sales in the Canary Islands reached 34 368 t, up 31.4% y/y. Sales volumes also improved in Lanzarote, where they grew by 37.9% y/y from 2904 t in January 2014 to 4003 t in January 2015. When compared to December 2014, sales in Lanzarote improved by 13.6%, according to ISTAC and Centro de Datos Lanzarote.
