World Cement,
The huge strides being made by the construction industry to improve vulnerable road user safety were visible to visitor to the London Bike Show at Excel in London.
Hanson supported the Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) stand at the show, which featured a number of construction materials delivery vehicles and encouraged visitors to sit in the cabs in order to understand the risks posed by the blind spots that drivers face.
Hanson’s distribution manager Ray Govier said: “Around 15 per cent of cyclist fatalities in the UK – and 10 per cent of pedestrian ones – involve a heavy goods vehicle and a disproportionate number of these are construction vehicles.
“CLOCS was set up to change the way the construction industry manages work-related risk and is proving to be very successful in this area. Hanson is a CLOCS champion and we have signed a memorandum of understating to actively improve the safety of vulnerable road users.”
The London Bike Show is the UK’s largest cycling exhibition and attracts around 45,000 visitors.
