Spanish cement consumption fell by 2.8% in the first eight months of the year, with a cumulative total of 7 418 538 t, which is 217 338 lower than in the same period of 2015.

During the central summer months (July and August) cement consumption stood at 1 892 819 t, which meant a decrease of 4.3% compared to the same months last year.

"Data from the summer confirm the new entry into recession in the sector, severely affected by the fall in investment in public works , already noted in the decrease in consumption experienced since the beginning of 2016," explains the CEO of Oficemen, Aniceto Zaragoza.
