Tarmac donates to gymnastics club

World Cement,

Tarmac’s Tunstead site has donated £50 to a local gymnastics club, High Peak Gymnastics in Whaley Bridge, towards the cost of new equipment.

The club will be using the money to buy new Asymmetric Bars and safety mats that will enable gymnasts to train to much higher standards. The equipment will also allow the club to progress its volunteer coaches to a more advanced level. Some of the clubs’ more experienced gymnasts have recently enrolled in the British Gymnastics’ Young Leaders Academy to encourage youngsters to volunteer and engage with the local community, as well as allowing them to develop their gymnastics skills.

Jo Coverley, Head Coach at High Peak Gymnastics, said: “The asymmetric bars that we currently have are becoming old and worn, so the new bars will be a great upgrade and will be much more stable for our older gymnasts to use. We are very grateful for the money we have received from Tarmac at Tunstead and we hope that the new equipment will encourage even more young people to join the club.”

Viv Russell, Director of Lime and Powders at Tarmac in Tunstead, said: “Our site works closely within the local community, regularly supporting charities, sports clubs and community events, so we were happy to make a donation to High Peak Gymnastics club. We wish the club and its gymnasts all the best for the future.”
