The winners of this year’s Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour awards for exemplary management of health, safety and environmental risks have been announced by the British Safety Council. The 61 Sword of Honour and eight Globe of Honour winning companies from around the world have demonstrated to an independent adjudication panel a proven track record of excellence in managing risks to worker’s health and safety, or to the environment, within the company’s activities.

The winning organisations came from a broad range of industry sectors from across the UK, mainland Europe, India and the Middle East, including construction, education and training, energy generation and distribution, food and drink, leisure, logistics, manufacturing, major hazards, motor vehicle manufacture, retail and transport.

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the trustees and staff of the British Safety Council I would like to congratulate those winning organisations and their staff for their huge commitment in seeking to be the best, recognising their effort expended in keeping their workplaces safe and healthy and minimising risks to the environment from their organisations’ day-to-day activities.

“I am delighted by the range of organisations who have won and by the different regions of the world they represent. The Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour awards shine a light on organisations that are at the forefront of achieving safe, healthy and sustainable workplace and business practices. It is an opportunity to celebrate their success and encourage other organisations everywhere to follow their lead as we know the business case for good health and safety is strong.

“The more we can do to promote these awards and the winners and learn from them, the more we can protect both workers and the environment, which benefits business overall.”

Winning organisations included AWE Construction, Interserve Industrial Services, Siemens Building Technologies and Special Projects ISG.
