Azerbaijani President attends cement plant opening

Published by , Editor
World Cement,

Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, attended the completion and opening ceremony of the new Qizildas cement plant on 21 July. President Aliyev started the production line and gave a speech praising the project, which is the largest and most modernised of its kind in Azerbaijan. He noted that cement demand is increasing in Azerbaijan thanks to rapid economic development and the investment in infrastructure development. The 5000 tpd Qizildas plant will help to meet that demand.

CTIEC was the turnkey contractor on the project and the company’s Executive Vice President, Sun Jian’an, met with the President at the ceremony, together with Ma Mingliang, General Manager of Beijing Triumph International Engineering Co. Ltd. The President thanked CTIEC for its ‘diligent efforts’ and expressed his hopes that the new plant will achieve continuous, stable production soon in order to become the foundation for Azerbaijan’s infrastructure construction. In turn, Sun said that he hoped CTIEC would continue to be involved in Azerbaijan in the future.

The Qizildas cement plant will change the face of the Azerbaijani cement industry, converting it from an import market to an export market.
