Cemex UK takes delivery of 11 new concrete mixers

Cemex has taken delivery of a fleet of new concrete mixers after a groundbreaking deal with a leading vehicle solutions firm.

The UK arm of the global company ordered 11 of the specialist 26 t vehicles as part of a £1.2 million agreement with Motiva Group.

“Cemex is a huge business with operations spanning 50 countries around the world, so the fact they’re renewing part of their UK fleet through us is a massive shot in the arm,” said Peter Wright, Sales Director at Motiva. “We haven’t run a contract hire deal with them before, so it would be great if this initial agreement can help create a long-lasting connection.

“They’re obviously keen to get the best deal they can for their fleet, combined with service they can rely on, and that’s what we’re all about.”

The DAF CF 330 FAT Euro 6 machines, fitted with McPhee Mixers, were supplied by Heathrow Truck Centre in Reading and some of the vehicles, valued at £108 000 each, are already being put to work at various locations around the UK as part of a 469-strong fleet.

Mr Wright says the contract with Cemex is a ringing endorsement of Motiva’s growing stature within the fleet industry.

He added: “We’ve enjoyed exceptional growth this year and deals like this show that we’re now competing on the national stage with the biggest fleet firms in the country.

“Hopefully, other major companies will see that Cemex has come to us and will want to follow suit.”

Chris Rose, National Readymix Fleet Manager for Cemex UK, said: “The initiative with Motiva offers real benefits to both businesses. We operate the trucks on short-term leases with the option to transfer ownership to independent contractors within the Cemex fleet while extending the lease terms, thus providing a sustainable model for future growth.

“Motiva provide a closed-loop service for maintenance and repairs ensuring the integrity and availability of the fleet operationally.

“They offered us the perfect deal – the vehicle, service network and financial package we wanted. We couldn’t have asked for more.”

Cemex was introduced to Motiva Group by vehicle solutions firm Indelease, with whom they joined forces earlier this year.
