Inauguration of Holcim (Azerbaijan) OJSC cement plant takes place
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, inaugurated the Holcim (Azerbaijan) OJSC cement plant yesterday. The reconstructed plant in Garadagh, Baku, represents an investment of €300 million. The plant was originally known as ‘Garadagh Cement’ before being renamed in April this year.
Holcim has been investing in projects in Azerbaijan since 1999 and is the only cement and clinker manufacturer operating in the country. It is hoped that the plant will stimulate industrial growth in the region.
Holcim has recently been running knowledge sharing events for the country’s construction sector, such as training sessions for local masons and dealers. A master class discussing new trends and the latest testing methods in concrete was held at the end of June for government authorities, industry leaders and customers.
