Cemex supports strategic infrastructure corridor in the Czech Republic

Published by , Senior Editor
World Cement,

Cemex has contributed to the development of a key infrastructure project in the Czech Republic by supplying a specialty concrete mix for bridge structure of a new motorway section between the towns of Horice and Sadová. Designed for exceptional durability, the concrete offers enhanced resistance to frost and road salts, ensuring long-term performance under harsh winter conditions.

To minimise thermal stress and streamline logistics, over 1200 m3 of concrete were placed during two coordinated nighttime pours. The operation involved more than 80 truck mixer trips, supported by a continuous supply flow from two plants, utilising two pumps and carefully timed intervals between loads.

The 10.4 km stretch includes four major bridges, with the final bridge now completed. Finishing works are currently underway, and the project remains on schedule for its planned December 2025 opening. Construction is being led by a consortium of EUROVIA CZ, M Silnice, and Stavby mostu, commissioned by the Czech Road and Motorway Directorate.

Cemex is proud to play a role in the modernisation of infrastructure across the Czech Republic, delivering technical expertise, reliable supply, and efficient execution to support national development goals.
