ContiTech purchases Metso’s Finland-based industrial conveyor belt operations
ContiTech has announced the acquisition of Metso’s industrial conveyor belt operations in Finland. The purchase comprises a production plant located in Kalkku, which manufactures conveyor belts for industrial applications such as quarries, in-factory transport, as well as for the ore, paper and food industries. In addition, ContiTech will take over Metso’s conveyor belt sales and service facilities in the country.
The transfer is expected to take place in 4Q13. ContiTech and Metso have agreed not to disclose the acquisition price.
“The acquisition strengthens ContiTech´s industrial business and is the perfect complement to the Conveyor Belt Group's current range of industrial conveyor belts and special belts. Furthermore, we are also improving our market presence in northern Europe and optimising the structure of our production sites,” said Hans-Jürgen Duensing, Head of the ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group business unit. “Our objective is to continue and further develop activities at the plant in Finland and gain access to new customer groups in the Scandinavian markets.”
