Hanson Cement in Ketton opened its doors on 6 June as almost 2000 people enjoyed the attractions on offer including demonstrations of the giant quarry machinery.

The open day hosted a full range of activities for children and families, including:

  • Ketton site guided tour
  • Site train ride
  • Truck displays
  • Quarry working display
  • Classic car and motorbike display
  • Face painting for children
  • Local rock band/local singer
  • Free prize draw and general raffle prizes (contributions to local charities)
  • Food and beverages available

As well as giving visitors the chance to see inside the works, one of the primary objectives of the day was to raise money for three charities: the Evergreen Care Trust, St John Ambulance and Stamford Kiwanis. Over £6000 was donated on the day.

Plant Manager Stewart Jones said: “I am thrilled that the open day was such a tremendous success following a great deal of hard work by the site team.

“The reward on the day though was well worth it and I’m really pleased so many people had such an enjoyable day.”
