World Cement,
Cemex UK’s Cluster 16 provided a sample of Promptis 50 from the company’s Berkwell plant to be used as the stand for a new Emirates Airbus A380.
The A380 will be the largest Airbus into Birmingham airport and was due to arrive 4 days after the pour. The heavyweight plane’s max take off weight is 577 t and with no fuel weighs in at 369 t, hence Cemex was called to the rescue to provide a fast setting and high strength concrete. The required cube strength to withstand the load was achieved after just 24 hours.
Cemex have sent their thanks to the IHC team for their patience in getting through security, Courtney Ralph Winter for sorting trucking details, David Freebody for supervising the pour and Gordon Mcdade for a smooth operation.
