World Cement,

Philipp Habjanic succeeds Florian Salzer and assumes responsibility for the operational management, production processes, and further development of the Peggau site.

In his new role, Habjanic is responsible for the operational management of the site, production processes, and the further technical and organisational development of lime and cement production.

A native of Styria, Habjanic completed his studies in raw materials processing at Montanuniversität Leoben. He has been working at the Peggau site since February 2020. He began his career there as a project engineer in the mining and processing area. Over the past two years, he has served as Head of Process Engineering and Project Development.

The Peggau site is an important production and development location within the Alpacem and InterCal Group. In recent years, extensive measures have been implemented to increase energy efficiency, reduce CO2 emissions, and digitise production processes. These include, among other initiatives, the switch to wood dust as a climate-friendly fuel, which can save up to 47 000 tpy of CO2, as well as the establishment of a CO2-free intermodal transport system using rail and electric trucks. Further investments in plant modernisation, digital solutions, and climate-friendly production and logistics concepts are also planned for the future.

“With Philipp Habjanic, a highly qualified expert with extensive site experience is taking over plant management in Peggau. He is very familiar with the processes, technical facilities, and strategic objectives of Alpacem and InterCal,” said Lutz Weber, Managing Director of Alpacem and InterCal. “Over the past two years, Florian Salzer laid the foundation for the further development of the Peggau site. With his successor, we are ensuring that this path is continued seamlessly and with a high level of technical expertise.”

In his new role, Habjanic will focus in particular on the further development of process engineering facilities as well as the implementation of ongoing and planned investment projects. Another key focus will be on occupational safety, efficiency improvements, and the sustainable development of the site.
