World Cement,

In October 2014, the Loesche Training Centre hosted its third Technical Seminar in Dusseldorf, which focused mainly on members of the cement industry. More than 50 participants from all over the world (customers, suppliers and colleagues from subsidiaries) attended the two-day seminar at the Innside Hafen hotel in Dusseldorf’s Media Harbour.

The seminar kicked off with an evening event on 14 October 2014, during which all participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences with Loesche experts and customers. The seminar itself started on 15 October with a warm welcome from Theodora Bruns, Head of the Loesche Training Centre. Dr Daniel Strohmeyer, Director of Process Technology, Loesche GmbH, moderated all of the sessions. The main theme of this year’s seminar was ‘Cement – From Raw Material to Product‘.

Lectures were delivered by eight experts over the course of the seminar. Volker Konradi, KC-Konradi Consulting, started with a practice-oriented presentation on raw material benefication. Dr Klaus Eichas, Senior Consultant at VDZ GmbH, continued with a thematically related lecture on raw material homogenisation and its advantages with regard to the cement production process. ?After the lunch break, the seminar continued with the first interactive session. Dr Regina Krammer, Loesche Training Centre, organised a group workshop entitled ‘World Café’, which proved to be successful during last year’s seminar. All lecturers from the first day of the seminar hosted several panels (the World Café tables) where delegates had the chance to discuss their own specific questions with experts and other participants in small groups.

Following this session, Christian-Martin Ruthenberg, Loesche Training Centre, gave a presentation on processes in a Loesche mill, considering different feed materials. Hartmut Nitsche, Loesche Design Department, delivered the final lecture of the day, introducing the new Loesche star wheel feeder.

The second day’s programme was opened by Hartmut Nitsche and Dietmar Kasel, Loesche Design Department, who compared mill design adaptions with consideration of different feed materials. Subsequently, Stefan Tübergen, Loesche Process Technology, explained the influence of the process gas properties on the grinding process and the product transport within the mill. The first session after the lunch break focused on hydraulics. Dirk Grube, Loesche Design Department, explained the different hydraulic systems before answering typical FAQs about hydraulic spring systems used in Loesche mills. After the second ‘World Café‘ session, Christian-Marin Ruthenberg and Dr Karl-Heinrich Zysk, Loesche Process Technology Department, gave an insight into clinker parameters and their influence on the grinding process. At the end of the second day, the moderator Dr Daniel Strohmeyer summarised all technical topics, while Theodora Bruns and Dr Regina Krammer provided an outlook for the upcoming seminars in 2015.
