After weak sales in 2016, German manufacturers serving the cement, lime, gypsum, dry mortar, and minerals processing industries are positive on the outlook for 2017. According to the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), which held its Building Material Plants Day in Frankfurt at the end of April, its members are also anticipating a “vigorous revival” in 2018.
Delegates at the Building Material Plants Day also noted the increasing heterogeneity of the industry, as growth is spread more evenly around the world, rather then being focused on one “boom region”.
“Europe – excluding Russia – continues to be seen as a robust region, particularly for gypsum and cement,” the VDMA said in a press release. Southeast Asia and India are also showing positive market developments for cement, as is Brazil, North Africa, and the Arabian peninsula.
The US continues to be the largest sales market for German building materials equipment, however, followed by China and Russia.
