Last night, Martin Riley, Tarmac’s Senior Vice President, joined the panel at the Institute of Quarrying’s technical evening to discuss his views on employee engagement.
The Quarry Question Time panel focused their collective expertise on the topic of worker involvement and its effect on business success, organisational and individual performance, productivity and well-being.
The annual event was held at the University of Derby. Other speakers included Tim Hall, Director, Breedon Aggregates; Ashley Haslett, Head of Operations and SHEAQ, EPC; Professor Richard Hall, Director, Research, Innovation & Impact, University of Derby; and Cath Pickett, HM Inspector of Quarries (Wales & Midlands), HSE.
Martin Riley, SVP at Tarmac said: "Employee engagement and worker involvement was recognised by all panel members as fundamental to business success. Worker involvement in health and safety terms is a 2-way engagement process. The clear business benefits of having an engaged workforce are higher standards, improved and more efficient performance all leading to a healthier and safer workplace."
