Two orders for Gebr. Pfeiffer SE

World Cement,

Slag mill for Cementownia „Odra“ S.A.

Gebr. Pfeiffer SE has won a contract to supply an MPS 3070 BC vertical roller mill (VRM) for grinding 46 tph of blastfurnace slag. The contract was awarded by the 100-year old Odra cement plant in Opole, Poland, which produces some 750 000 t of cement and about 360 000 t of clinker each year.

The Pfeiffer mill will grind the slag to a Blaine fineness of 3800 cm2/g for use as an additive to the cement. The mill features a main drive with an output of 1350 kW. Exhaust gases from the cooler dry the slag from 9% feed moisture down to <1% residual moisture during grinding. The mill could also be used to grind OPC to a Blaine fineness of 3500 cm2/g at a rate of 45 tph.

The mill will be set up in an existing building.

VRM for Malaysia YTL Group

A second VRM order was placed by KHD Humboldt Wedag International AG on behalf of Straits Cement, a subsidiary of the Malaysian YTL Group. KHD is acting as the general contractor for this project, which will see construction of a 5000 tpd cement plant in Malaysia. Gebr. Pfeiffer will supply two VRMs, for grinding cement raw material and coal, respectively. The MPS 4750 B raw mill is designed for a capacity of 300 tph of cement raw material ground to a product fineness of 12% R 90 µm.

The MPS 2800 BK coal mill will be capable of grinding 35 tph of coal.
