Cement company Aalborg Portland has welcomed the Danish government’s decision to remove the NOx tax, announced in the 2016 Budget. Michael Lundgaard Thomsen, Director, said that the decision gave the company confidence in the investment environment.

Aalborg Portland was hit hard by the increased NOx tax in 2012, which equated to a tax burden of about DKK14 million. The additional cost created a difficult competitive environment for the company. Now, though, the company is also considering further investment in Denmark and expects the reduced tax burden to contribute to more jobs at the plant and among those companies that supply solutions to the industry.
