Höver plant celebrates 110 year anniversary

Holcim (Deutschland)’s Höver cement plant celebrated 110 years of operation on 1 September with an open day for over 1000 guests. Visitors were taken around the plant and taught about modern cement production.
A special train – the Holcim Express – ferried visitors from the carpark to the plant and onto the observation and information points at the plant’s quarry. While at the plant, guests could embark on a signposted tour of the plant with eight information points at which Holcim employees were on hand to explain key processes in cement production.
The plant had also organised a fairground with virtual reality simulator, as well as range of children’s activities, such as trampoline, bouncy castle, pony rides, and various crafts. Local clubs and the fire brigade offered food and drink.
“As an industrial company, we must always maintain a close relationship with the neighbours,” said Plant Manager, Erik Jantzen. “Dialogue, transparency and mutual trust play a central role in this.”
