Double award cements Lafarge’s reputation as a marketing leader

World Cement,

Building materials manufacturer, Lafarge Cement, has recently scooped two marketing awards. The UK-based company won the ‘Best Brand Campaign’ prize at the B2B Marketing Awards on 24 November 2011 for its campaign surrounding the revitalisation of the Mastercrete cement brand through the move from paper to plastic packaging.

Owned and operated by B2B Marketing magazine, the B2B Marketing Awards are designed to recognise excellence in marketing across many different sectors. The ceremony itself is attended by over 700 guests from a wide range of organisations and Lafarge Cement’s win demonstrates the success of its innovative marketing strategy alongside other leading brands outside the construction industry.

Hot on the heels of this win, the company then scooped the award for ‘Best In House Marketing Team’ at the Construction Marketing Awards (CMAs). The CMAs, organised by The Construction Interest Group of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, champion marketing excellence across the construction industry.

Praised by the judges for its success in meeting specific business objectives and consistent high performance, Lafarge Cement beat building products manufacturer Alumet Systems UK to take the prestigious accolade.

At the CMAs, Lafarge was shortlisted for seven awards across six categories including ‘Best Use of Strategic Marketing’ for Cemergi’s ‘Fact’ campaign and ‘Best Use of Website’ for Mastercrete’s ‘Big Boys Toys’ promotional campaign.  Lafarge’s Fact campaign, delivered for its bulk cement Cemergi, also gained a nomination for ‘Best Campaign’ over £25 000 due to its effective communication of the sustainability benefits associated with the use of the product.

Javed Sethi, head of marketing at Lafarge, said: “In tough times we’re always looking for innovative ways to enhance our customer offering and help our merchant customers boost sales, whether that is through promotions such as our successful ‘Big Boys Toys’ campaign or by enhancing our product range.

“This award win is a testament to the efforts and dedication of our team, which works tirelessly to deliver an innovative product range and the most creative and valuable communications strategy possible.”
