World Cement,
On 19 December, Italcementi’s Shymkent Cement in Kazakhstan celebrated the launch of the 3200 tpd clinker line project with special festivities. The project has been contracted to China Triumph International Engineering Group Co., Ltd (CTIEC). Xinjiang Triumph Building Materials Design Institute (Xinjiang Triumph) and Beijing Triumph International Engineering Co., Ltd (Beijing Triumph) are providing technologies and all equipment.
The official beginning of the installation works commenced with the base of the first column of the kiln tail preheater framework being lifted into place.
The clinker production line project in Shymkent, Kazakhstan is a key project in Kazakhstan's "2020 Productivity Improvement Program". Italcementi recruited a local engineering consultation company for construction assistance. Since the project was initiated in June 2014, the project team, with the support of CNBM, has faced various challenges, including labour visa application, HSE management, customs clearance for equipment, narrow construction field and excessive dependence on the existing production line. The team has controlled the project progress with the P6 system, increased local subcontracting efficiency by all means, and actively organised local machines and tools for removal of old underground concrete, which was five times more than the contract-estimated volume, so as to achieve the contract target.
