World Cement,
Hanson has entered into an agreement with Wincanton to deliver about 0.5 million m3 of ready-mixed concrete on its behalf every year.
The contract will last eight years and will be fulfilled by a fleet of over 70 new vehicles in Wincanton and Hanson liveries, each with a carrying capacity of 8 m3. The mixers will initially be deployed in the East Midlands, with the remainder placed around the country to best serve the needs of Hanson customers. Wincanton will be responsible for the management of the drivers, as well as all safety-related compliance.
Matthew Barlow, Hanson UK Supply chain director, said: “This outsourcing of part of our concrete delivery operations will complement our existing franchise and company vehicle fleet and allow us to provide high levels of service to all our customers.
We have chosen Wincanton for its expertise, scale and professionalism, and are confident that this new contract will unlock efficiencies within our business, where truck utilisation and on-time delivery are critical.”
