World Cement,
CRH will group its Europe Lightside, Europe Distribution, and Americas Products divisions into one new Building Products division, the company has announced. The change will come into effect from 1 January.
The new division will operate alongside CRH’s existing American Materials and European Materials division. It will be headed by Keith Hass, current President of Americas Products. David Dillon, current President of Europe Lightside and Distribution, will take up a news role as President of Global Strategy and Business Development.
The company also said it was undertaking a strategic review of its Europe Distribution division – an indication that the company may be considering its sale. The company sold its Americas Distribution for US$2.63 billion in a transaction that completed in January.
The Europe Distribution division includes the company’s network of DIY, general builders merchants, and sanitary, heating and plumbing outlets in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherland, Portugal, and Switzerland.
The move continues CRH’s recent trend towards focusing on its heavyside businesses, which include its cement and aggregates operations. Last year, the company agreed to a US$3.5 billion takeover of US cement producer, Ash Grove Cement.
