Alpacem Austria, the leading manufacturer of cements, concretes, and raw materials in the Alpine-Adriatic region, has received the Silver CSC certification for its concrete manufacturing process and value chain. This award encompasses the production of cement, aggregates, and ready-mixed concrete, confirming Alpacem as a pioneer in sustainable concrete manufacturing.

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) is a globally recognized system for the sustainability certification of concrete and its raw materials, including cement and aggregates. The CSC certification process evaluates companies in the areas of governance, environment, social responsibility, economics, as well as product and supply chain, aiming for continuous improvement in sustainable practices within the concrete industry. Through this certification, Alpacem significantly contributes to sustainability in the construction sector.

Thanks to extensive experience in implementing and operating management systems according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001, Alpacem was able to largely meet the CSC certification requirements through its existing management system. Christoph Stotter, head of Quality and Product Innovation, who oversaw the project, stated, “The ambitious timeline from the start of the certification process to its completion was one of the major challenges. The successful completion of the Silver CSC certification was largely made possible by the intense knowledge and method transfer within the Alpacem Group.”

Awards for Seven Production Sites

At the end of August, the Silver CSC certificates were awarded to seven Alpacem production sites: the two cement plants in Wietersdorf and Peggau, three concrete plants in Klagenfurt, Gröbming, and Deutschlandsberg, as well as the two aggregate production facilities in Peggau and Grafenstein near Klagenfurt.

In addition to the existing company and product certifications, the Silver CSC certification is a special recognition for the entire Alpacem value chain. “The certification is a clear signal of our sustainable and responsible actions, which are firmly embedded in the corporate strategy of the Alpacem Group,” emphasises Lutz Weber, Managing Director of Alpacem.
