Hope supplying concrete for war memorial

World Cement,

Hope Construction Materials is supplying concrete for the build of a Second World War memorial in Lincoln.

The ‘International Bomber Command Centre’ project, launched in 2013, will create a world-class facility in the area serving as a point for recognition, remembrance and reconciliation for Bomber Command during the conflict. The project incorporates a memorial to those 55 573 men who lost their lives whilst serving.

The 102 ft memorial is based on two Lancaster bomber wing fragments, with Hope supplying concrete for the foundations.

The concrete is being supplied to Lincoln based construction firm, Lindum Construction, who are working with the International Bomber Command Centre to complete the build, subject to funding, for opening in 2016.

This site is within two radial miles of Hope’s Lincoln plant, ensuring that the carbon footprint of the project is kept to a minimum, in line with Hope’s sustainability targets.
