Tarmac has confirmed its sponsorship of this year’s ‘Tour of Hertfordshire Series’ as part of its ongoing commitment to local communities. The event, which is in its second year, will be known as the ‘Tarmac Tour of Hertfordshire Series’ and is the biggest cycling event of its type in the UK.

As part of the company’s focus on continuing to improve cycle safety, Tarmac employees will be showing visitors around on of the firm’s fleet of trucks, which feature the latest in high-tech safety design and technology.

Mike Pendock, local estates manager at Tarmac said: “We’re proud to support this event and are looking forward to helping the organisers deliver a great cycle series for Hertfordshire. Our business has strong local roots throughout the County, so being involved with the Tour means a lot to us. We’re looking forward to putting on our kit, joining the peloton and getting involved with the races!”

Hertfordshire Cycling project manager, Jez Cox, said: “Hertfordshire Cycling and the County Council are delighted to be working closely with Tarmac in bringing the 2016 Tour of Hertfordshire Series to even more people and more towns. Their roads expertise, regional presence and strong commitment to promoting safety for cyclists make them the ideal partner. Our Tour will be lots of fun and offer a really unique day out, which we hope will encourage regular cyclists to do more and inspire people to become lifelong cyclists.”

Mike Pendock adds: “Safety is our absolute priority, so as well as using the latest truck technology and ensuring our drivers are trained to the highest standards, this is a great opportunity to ensure that our business and cyclists continue to talk about how we can make roads safer for everyone.”
