Aggregates company Kelkay has appointed Barrie King to the position of logistics manager.

Barrie will take day-to-day control of Kelkay’s logistical operations and will also be responsible for the continuous improvement of the warehouse management systems and Goods Inwards. He will oversee the stringent quality and checking systems, ensuring that they are kept up to date and in-line with the company’s programmes.

Barrie will work closely with Jonathan Wilson, who was recently appointed operations manager, to develop and implement an advanced, ISO 9001 compliant, quality control system.

Barrie has been part of the Kelkay team for over ten years and seen many changes in his time with the Yorkshire based company. During this period he has held the positions of yard manager, assistant transport manager and transport manager as well as playing a pivotal part in the set up for Glee.

Following this, Gavin Jackson has been promoted to transport manager and Andrew Kerr to the role of senior planner.

Antony Harker, managing director at Kelkay, said: “I am delighted to be in a position to promote from within the company. This can only add to the depth of knowledge and commitment from the team.”
