During the XIII International Investment Forum Sochi 2014, Eurocement and Wärtsilä signed an agreement for the supply of high-energy power plants. The agreement, which was signed by Mikhail Skorokhod, President of the Eurocement Group, and Tour Bjorkman, Vice-President of Wärtsilä, forms part of Eurocement’s plant modernisation plans.

Under the agreement, Wärtsilä will supply power plants with total capacity of over 300 MW, which will significantly reduce production costs and improve energy efficiency. The cost of delivery of the equipment will be more than US$150 million (total investment will stand at over US$200 million).

"The success of such a large-scale modernisation programme is not possible without the revision of approaches to the issue of energy and energy efficiency,” said Mikhail Skorokhod. “Our partner, Wärtsilä, offered the use of global best practices in energy efficiency in the workplace. The agreement will allow Eurocement to undertake high-tech cement production in Russia, which will provide high-quality cement, infrastructure and housing projects in the country.”
