Vecoplan announces repositioning

World Cement,

The successful joint venture Vecoplan FuelTrack GmbH has been repositioned with the aim of serving the global growing market for alternative fuels in the cement industry at an optimum level, both now and in the future. For the energy-intensive production of cement, alternative fuels are increasingly replacing expensive and scarce fossil fuels. Due to rising energy costs and growing demands for climate protection, alternative fuels generate a significant growth market for the future.

The production of energy from residues, bulky, domestic and commercial waste requires complex systems that cover the whole process from fuel treatment to cement kilns. In April 2011, Vecoplan AG, Bad Marienberg, and ThyssenKrupp Polysius AG, Neubeckum, founded the joint venture Vecoplan FuelTrack GmbH and combined Vecoplan’s knowhow in processing technologies with Polysius’s expertise in cement plant engineering.

The two partners of the Vecoplan FuelTrack GmbH joint venture have been reorganised strategically and structurally. They will now handle the market of alternative fuels in a concentrated way, organised into separated business units. This will enable both companies to focus on their core competences.

Vecoplan AG, as an international leader in shredding, conveying, storing and treating waste and secondary raw materials, will still offer its specialised knowhow to its customers. Plant specialist ThyssenKrupp Polysius now forms part of ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions AG, which also comprises ThyssenKrupp Material Handling and ThyssenKrupp Uhde. The ‘Cement’ operating unit, formerly Polysius, offers its knowledge in the field of the combustion of residual and secondary raw materials as a specialist for turnkey cement plants.

To increase its focus on the market segment, Vecoplan has restructured its sales organisation for the cement industry.

As of 1 March 2014, this market segment is based on the entire sales force and strength of Vecoplan AG and is supported by its global network.

Vecoplan FuelTrack GmbH will continue to work on current projects and ensure their realisation. All new projects and enquiries will be handled by Vecoplan AG with immediate effect.
