World Cement,
In 2014 cement producer PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa is planning to inject IDR4 trillion (US$334.5 million) in capital expenditure predominantly to support its new brownfield plant in Citeureup, Bogor.
The company started construction on the brownfield cement plant, labelled the Plant 14 project, in October and the facility is due for competition in 2015. The production line will have a capacity of 4.4 million tpa, the largest in Indonesia. The Plant 14 project will also be one of most efficient cement plants in the country due to a baghouse filtration system. The plant is designed to produce high quality, low carbon cement that will significantly reduce CO2 emissions and energy and water consumption. The company is running training schemes in local villages to improve the skills of local workers in areas such as ready mix concrete, building foundations, concrete casting and foundling and wall casting. The overall value of the plant is estimated at between IDR5.5 – 6.5 trillion and the funds will be sourced solely from the company.
Indocement received recognition for its operations in the country by Forbes Indonesia at its award ceremony this week. The company was one of 50 organisations presented with a “Best of the Best 2013” award.
The companies were selected based on combined scores of various achievements, such as return on equity for the last five years as well as net revenue and basic earnings per share over the last three years.
