Lafarge Philippines will install a new 850 000 tpa grinding mill at its Norzagaray Plant in Bulacan. The investment has been approved by the board of directors and operation of the mill is due to begin in 2Q15. The grinding facility will supplement the new €18.48 million (PH1.2 billion) mill at Lafarge’s Teresa plant in Rizal, which was approved in May 2013 and is due for commissioning in January 2015.

The expansion projects form part of Lafarge’s plan to meet growing demand for cement in the country. The construction industry is predicted to increase in 2014 due to fast economic growth and an array of development, housing and infrastructure projects in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. In March 2013, Lafarge revealed plans to reopen its Danao cement plant in Cebu to meet the growing requirements of the Philippine construction sector.
