Sika sets up subsidiary in Sri Lanka

World Cement,

Sika has announced its increased market presence in Asia-Pacific with the establishment of Sika Sri Lanka. The group’s concrete admixture production facilities and laboratories are currently under construction, and are expected to be operational by the end of 2014.

Sika will be the first international firm from the construction chemicals sector to have a local presence in the country. Sri Lanka is undergoing a boom in construction activity, boosted by tourism and infrastructure developments.

Sika Sri Lanka supplies a range of key products to the construction industry in the country.

“Our presence in Sri Lanka complements Sika’s supply chain in the Asia/Pacific region. It is the third step we have taken in 2014 to accelerate Sika’s growth in the region following the inauguration of new plants in Surabaya, Indonesia, and Jhagadia, India. It effectively proves our ability to quickly gain ground in promising markets and to grasp business opportunities arising in Asia,” said Heinz Gisel, President of Sika Asia/Pacific.

The announcement follows news earlier this month that Sika has expanded its supply chain in North America. The company has inaugurated a mortars plant at its existing site in Conyers, Atlanta, as well as a new concrete admixtures facility in Denver.

“Sika is committed to implementing its ‘Strategy 2018’ targets for growth and technology leadership in the local markets with excellent service to our customers. With our reinforced local presence in North America, we are convinced we will generate a high momentum for both our customers and Sika,” commented Christoph Ganz, Regional Manager North America.
