Japanese cement production and sales fall in February

Japanese cement production fell year-on-year in February, according to statistics from the Japanese Cement Association. Production stood at 4.496 million t, compared to 4.814 million t in February 2017.
The February figure also marked a decline on January 2018’s total of 4.551 million t.
Sales were also down in February at 4.002 million t, compared to 4.269 million t in February 2017. Exports saw the heaviest fall, dropping from 0.989 million t last year to 0.705 million t this year – a fall of 20.4%.
Domestic sales were down 2.5% at 3.297 million t.
