Holcim Bangladesh expands cement capacity to meet demand

According to reports, Holcim has increased its capacity in Bangladesh through a Tk.300 crore investment, bringing total cement production capacity in the country to 20 lakh tonnes per annum. Bangladesh is experiencing growth in cement demand amounting to about 8% per year, as a number of significant infrastructure projects are in the pipeline.

Speaking at a press conference in Dhaka, Aiden Lynam, area head of South Asia Region for the Holcim Group, spoke of the company’s desire to be part of that infrastructure development, saying “we are committed to providing construction solutions to our clients”. He added: “Bangladesh has geared up for the next step, so we are also gearing up for the next step”.

With the capacity expansion project, Holcim also installed integrated software to bring together key business processes including manufacturing, sales, distribution and supply chain, among others.
