World Cement,

The second line at the Tuban plant, which belongs to LafargeHolcim, has been officially opened. The plant is located on the coast in East Java, about 200 km from Surabaya, and has access to a jetty that will give the plant plenty of opportunities to serve the nearby markets of Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi.

Construction of the project began in 2011 and brings the plant’s capacity to 3.4 million t. The first line was put into operation in 2013, with the commissioning of the cement mill, and the kiln followed in September 2014.

The Tuban plant was built to the most modern specifications and sets new benchmarks in low-cost production, environmental performance and health and safety.

Holcim Indonesia, a member of the LafargeHolcim Group, operates three integrated cement plants and one grinding station in Indonesia and has a combined capacity of 12.5 million tpy. Lafarge Indonesia, also a Group member, has a 1.6 million tpy cement plant on the island of Sumatra.
