FLSmidth enters into training partnership with Vietnam’s cement sector

World Cement,

FLSmidth has formed a partnership with Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (VICEM), a state-owned cement manufacturer, and with DANIDA, the Danish Foreign Ministry’s development cooperation. The partnership aims to optimise cement plant operation and maintenance in order to lower the cement sector’s impact on the environment. FLSmidth will train operation and maintenance staff on best practices for enhancing energy efficiency.

The agreement includes VICEM’s Cement Technology Institute (VCTI), which is a not for profit organisation set up to share technical knowledge throughout the country’s cement industry via training and research and development work. FLSmidth will provide training to 20 of VCTI’s trainers, who will then impart the acquired best practice knowledge to VCTI staff and cement plant personnel.

“We strive primarily to attain our environmental goals through the development of processes, equipment and services that help our customers set ambitious standards for their own production processes. FLSmidth therefore invests considerable resources in developing new solutions that may contribute to reducing energy consumption and lowering harmful emissions. With the signing of this agreement we look forward to the continued cooperation with our Vietnamese partners, the VICEM Group and DANIDA,” said FLSmidth Group CEO Thomas Schulz.

FLSmidth has been operating in Vietnam since 1927, and it recently set up a Local Service Unit in Hanoi.
