Kolkata-based Birla Corporation Ltd (MP Birla Group) has placed an order for the supply of another MPS 2800 BK mill for the company’s works in Satna, India.

The new mill features an installed drive power of 800 kW and will be capable of grinding 28 tph of petcoke to a product fineness of 2% R 90 µm. The specific power consumption of this hard to grind material will be approximately 21 kWh/t. The fuel for the two cement rotary kilns will be ground and dried in the mill while simultaneously being dried in the integrated high-efficiency classifier SLS 2450 BK. Inert gases from the cement rotary kiln will be used for drying.

The positive user experience in operating an identical mill at Birla’s Chittor plant and the high level of satisfaction with the performance of two identical mills installed at Vassavadatta Cement’s Sedam I and Sedam II plants, which also belong to the Birla Group, were major factors in the company’s decision to purchase the MPS coal mill. At the end of 2008, the Mumbai-based cement company Maihar Cement (Prop Century Textiles & Inds Ltd), also owned by the Birla Group, had previously ordered this type of mill.

Gebr. Pfeiffer SE will supply the main components of the mill from Europe, due to the high quality of the European supply part. The remaining components of the mill, such as foundation parts, housing and the classifier, will be delivered by Gebr. Pfeiffer Pvt Ltd in Noida, India. The company’s engineering department will also work on the plant layout and provide extensive engineering services, including the detailed planning of the civil works.
