World Cement,

Taiheiyo Cement Corporation has opted for a gas engine power generation system at its Fujiwara Plant in Inabeshi, Mie Prefecture.

The thermal power generation system operating at Fujiwara Plant, which uses oil cokes as its main fuel, was extremely deteriorated and the company was considering upgrading the facility to ensure stable operation. At this time, Taiheiyo Cement would like to announce that it has decided to opt for a gas engine power generation system which is carbon neutral and has a smaller impact on the environment. The construction is scheduled to start in the 2025 fiscal year, and the operation is scheduled to start at the end of 2026.

The operation of this facility is expected to reduce the plant's CO2 emissions by approximately 130 000 tpy.

Taiheiyo Cement positions the reduction of CO2 emissions from its cement production as an important growth strategy and will work to continue to achieve carbon neutrality through various countermeasures and the promotion of further energy conservation.
