India’s Shiva Cement has been awarded the second prize in the category ‘Management of Sub-grade Minerals’ for the year 2014 – 15 at the 17th Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week, run by the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM).
The IBM is a government organisation that promotes the conservation and scientific development of mineral resources and the protection of the environment in mines other than coal, petroleum and natural gas, atomic minerals and minor minerals.
Shiva Cement is located in Orissa and has its own limestone quarries with surplus reserves. The company entered into an alliance with ACC in 2007 to help realise its potential for expansion and is currently undertaking a two-phase expansion plan that will see its total capacity reach 2 million tpy.
