World Cement,

Following the recommendations of the Expert Appraisal Committee, India’s Environment Ministry has given JK Lakshmi clearance to set up a clinker grinding unit in the Kishanganj district in Bihar.

project, which will cover 14.02 hectares and cost Rs300 crore, will include a clinker grinding unit with a 1.5 million tpy capacity, as well as the production of 10003 of autoclaved aerated concrete block and 10 MW diesel generator set.

green light was however accompanied by certain conditions. The first is that the company adopts a green belt in at least 33% of the area in and around the cement plant, which follows usual procedure. JK Lakshmi will also be required to install air-monitoring devices, control secondary fugitive emissions and reduce the impact of transportation on the environment, for both raw materials and end product.

company, which manufactures grey cement, has installed a cement making capacity of over 9 million tpy through its plants at Sirohi, Rajasthan and Kalol, Gujarat.
