Semen Indonesia expands its market reach with new packing plant
PT Semen Indonesia (Pesero) Tbk is establishing a packing plant in Banjarmasin, Indonesia. The company has reported that the facility was 90% complete as of August 2013. It is expected to begin operating in 4Q13. Rp120 billion has been invested in the project.
The packing plant will comprise a 600 000 tpa capacity silo, two rotary cement bag packer lines, in addition to an output line that will carry the product at a rate of 120 tph to a boat dock. The dock will be able to accommodate vessels of up to 5000 dwt.
The new packing plant will serve the South Kalimantan market, helping to strengthen the company’s presence in the region and lower logistics costs. Cement demand in Kalimantan has been experiencing growth, with sales rising by 6.9% y/y to 2.76 million t in January – August 2013.
Semen Indonesia has a 43.7% share of the domestic cement market.
