Unicast, Inc., has announced the formation of a sales office and wear part distribution centre in the Philippines, which will better serve Asian cement plants and mines with quicker delivery times and reduced freight costs. Operations in the country will be led by Unicast engineers Efren P. Ignacio and Barry Q. Quilon and the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Gerry L’Esperance, in Canada.

“Cement plant managers around the world are looking to reduce plant operational costs,” said L’Esperance. “By offering local sales representatives and a distribution centre in the Philippines, we are able to deliver wear parts to local and regional cement plants quickly and efficiently. In the case of a shut down due to worn or broken wear parts, quick delivery of replacement parts could save our customers thousands of dollars per hour.”

Unicast wear parts are installed in hundreds of cement plants and mines worldwide. The company ships cast wear parts, such as apron feeder pans, tungsten carbide hammers, diverter valves and other cast wear parts from its plant in Kelowna, Canada.

“In addition to improving delivery times, a regional office in Asia allows us to offer multi-language support and consultation for our regional customers. We are excited to meet the needs of the growing industry in the Philippines and neighbouring Asian countries,” said L’Esperance. “We are confident that Efren and Barry are the best candidates to lead our Philippines office. They are an integral part of the Unicast team.”

The company’s most popular product is the convertible diverter valve. “The Unicast convertible diverter valve can be maintained inline by one engineer in an hour or less, and they last longer,” said L’Esperance. “Our international customers are thrilled with the wear life they are getting with Unicast valves. We have seen a growing demand for this product in Asia.”

A local warehouse stocked with cast wear parts meets this demand. Unicast plans to stock the Philippines regional distribution centre with convertible diverter valves and crusher hammers, including clinker breaker and TiC hammers. The new distribution centre is scheduled to open by the end of 2015; however, the sales office and regional website are currently in operation.
