BASF India opens construction chemicals plant in Nellore

World Cement,

BASF India Ltd has begun commercial production at its new construction chemicals plant in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The new facility will manufacture standard and custom-made performance based concrete admixtures, as well as construction systems.

The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, a multiple tank storage facility and a concrete lab. This will enable BASF to provide custom recipes, timely support, and high performance solutions to customers in southern India.

The plant is strategically located in Naidupet, Nellore, with good access to the local road network and the Krishnapatnam Port. The new facility is BASF’s fifth construction chemicals plant in the country. The others are located in Turbhe in Navi Mumbai, Nalagarh and Kolkata.

“With the new plant at Nellore, BASF offers a comprehensive range of solutions to help construct buildings that can be more energy efficient, durable and require fewer resources for maintenance,” said Ralf Spettmann, President, Construction Chemicals, BASF.

Dr Raman Ramachandran, Chairman and Managing Director, BASF India Limited and Head, BASF South Asia, added: “India is a strategic market for BASF and it’s important to be able to respond to the local market in a timely manner. The Nellore site, an addition to our existing four construction chemicals plants in India, enables us to stay close to the customers and offer them customised solutions to meet the growing demands for multi-story buildings, long-lasting infrastructure constructions and more energy efficient construction techniques.”
