Adelaide Brighton CEO will step down in May 2014

Adelaide Brighton will be losing its CEO in May 2014. Mark Chellew has announced plans to retire next year after more than 23 years in the industry. Mr Chellew has served as the managing director of Adelaide Brighton since September 2001. He will be replaced by Martin Brydon, the current executive general manager (cement and lime) and an electrical engineer.
Chairman Les Hosking said, “Mark’s successful strategy has included diversifying the product range and enhancing Adelaide Brighton’s unique position in lime supply to the resource section”. He added: “Vertical integration through the development of quarry and premixed cement concrete operations has further improved the company’s competitive position in the highly integrated Australian market”.
Mr Brydon will first become Deputy Chief Executive on 1 February before taking on the CEO role in May. He became general manager of Adelaide Brighton’s western division in 1999 after the company merged with Cockburn Cement.
