Environment a Key Factor in Adelaide Brighton Cement’s Choice of Shiploader
Adelaide Brighton Cement has opted for a Siwertell SSL 700 screw-type shiploader from Cargotec for use at its South Australian plant. The Siwertell unit was chosen due to the low level of impact it has upon the environment when loading cement and clinker.
When detailing the attractions of the shiploader, Bertil Andersson, Sales Manager for Bulk Terminals, states that: “Our enclosed Siwertell system ensures minimal environmental impact and it has the advantage of being able to handle both cement and clinker. Also, we are able to minimise the company’s disruption and modernisation costs by integrating our loading arm system into the customer’s existing loader structure, as well as integrating our control and power systems with the existing ones. The old arm system will be removed.”
Adelaide Brighton Cement, both a supplier and exporter of cement and its associated materials to the South Australian market, are to receive the unit with their third quarter 2011 intake. The shiploader is to be based at the company’s Birkenhead Plant in the Port of Adelaide and is estimated to have a rated capacity of 900 tph for cement and 600 tph for clinker.
