Holcim Vietnam to recycle waste heat

Holcim Vietnam Cement Ltd Co. has announced that it is to develop a 6.3 MW power plant that will utilise waste heat for cement production from its Hon Chong cement plant in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.

The power plant is set to come into operation in August 2012. It will produce approximately 44 million kWh /year; enough electricity to operate the Hon Chong cement plant for 88 days. The plant could save in excess of 9000 tpa of coal, or 6450 tpa of oil, according to the company’s figures.

It is reported that the project will be constructed at a total cost of US$28 million, of which US$10 million will be used for maintenance.
